Daniel Holt was a young man, who in his short time, made a positive impact on hundreds of people. This became evident during his courageous battle against an aggressive, rare (non-smoker) form of lung cancer. It was ultimately realized when more than 700 people came to his funeral service to pay their respect.
Danny was always admired by his peers, and looked up to by the children he cared for. He was a talented athlete, earning the captain’s badge for the Danbury High School varsity football team. He was a talented artist, known best for his crooning, who sang with a local music group. He was a youth athletics coach, a camp counselor, and student aid. His calling was caring, he invested everything in this calling, and he always did it with his heart on his sleeve and a smile on his face.
His family has established the Holt Foundation, with a memorial fund that distributes raised money to various charities including the Hord Scholarship Foundation, the “I’m Too Young For This” Cancer Foundation, the Danbury Athletic Youth Organization, and the Brookfield Y.M.C.A. Day Camp.
Danny Holt’s contribution to his community, and the energy and love he put into everything he did will not be forgotten. His family and community will ensure that his name and his calling live on.
